Do I need a visa for the UK?

Certain nationalities, known as visa nationals, need to obtain a visa before travelling to the UK. Even if you are not a visa national, you may need a visa, depending on the reason for coming to the UK. Use the Do I need a UK visa? questionnaire on to find out if you need a visa.

How long does it take to get a UK visa?

We aim to operate a fast and effective visa service. Last year, worldwide over 90% of straightforward, non-settlement applications were resolved within 24 hours. If an interview is required or further enquiries need to be made, we aim to process non-settlement applications within 15 working days. If you are applying to settle in the UK, in most cases we aim to process your application within 12 weeks.

How much does a UK visa cost?

 
Fees are payable at the visa office to which you will apply, usually in local currency. A fee is charged to pay for the cost of processing your application and for that reason it is not refundable.
