A full list of solicitors and barristers, as issued by the Supreme Court, is available on request from the Supreme Court. Neither Her Majesty’s Government nor the British High Commission take any responsibility for the competence or probity of any person on the list or for the consequences of any legal action initiated or advice given.

Solicitors holding a Restricted certificate have, since 1960, been able to practice in Mauritius without taking the Criminal Law examination. It is local practice for barristers to deal with most cases of criminal law and they may be approached direct. Solicitors will handle cases of civil and criminal law.

There are no firms of solicitors, as such, in Mauritius. Each acts independently although they may share clerks and chambers.
